Spragg's Spice Blends: 5 Ways

Have you ever wanted to make your own Spragg’s sausage at home? Now you can with our homemade spice blends. You can purchase 10lbs or 25lbs of our ground beef or pork (lamb or chicken are also great!) and pick out your choice of our homemade spice blends pre-measured to make either 10 or 25lbs of meat.

Here are five ways that you can use our Spragg’s homemade spice blends at home:

 
Sausage

Sausages

The most common method, but not the only way to use our homemade spice blends, is for sausage! To make our sausages at home, you will need an attachment to your grinder machine or a hand sausage stuffer to stuff the ground meat into the casings. Once the sausages are cased, you can sauté, grill or bake them right away, and freeze your extra batch for a scrumptious meal another day!

Sausage Patties

Sausage Patties

Who says you’re limited to only sausages? If you don’t have a stuffer, you can skip casing the sausages and instead make sausage patties. Mix the ground meat and spices together and shape your concoction into disks. Fry these patties on a skillet and you’ve got the makings of a delicious dinner!

Meatballs

Meatballs

Another alternative to sausages is to make meatballs! Mix the spices into the ground meat, roll into balls with your hands and place on a baking sheet. After the meatballs are cooked all the way through, toss them on top of cooked pasta with your favourite marinara sauce. Delizioso!!

Quesadillas

Quesadillas

This recipe comes highly recommended by the staff at the Calgary Farmers Market. Mix the ground meat of your choice with the Spanish chorizo spices and cook in a large skillet. Add the cooked meat to your quesadilla with scrambled eggs and cheese and heat together in the skillet until the cheese melts. Our mouths are watering just thinking about this!

Tacos

Tacos

Who doesn’t love tacos? Bring your tacos to the next level with our homemade spice blends. Cook the ground meat with your choice of our spice mix, spoon into taco shells and build with shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes, sprinkle on cheese, garnish with sour cream or hot sauce. You’ve made yourself quite the masterpiece!
